I Built a Complete SaaS App Using Only AI

Over the last few weeks, I decided to challenge myself: could I build a fully functional SaaS platform using nothing but AI? No coding from scratch, no hiring developers, just me, a lot of prompts, and the latest AI tools.

The result is SimpleRSVPs.com, a free RSVP and event-page builder that lets anyone create clean, shareable event links in seconds.

I have been watching AI evolve for a while, and I wanted to know if it was really there yet—if it could take a concept in my head and turn it into a working business. This wasn’t about saving money or proving a point. It was about testing how far AI can go in helping creators turn ideas into real products. I gave myself a simple challenge: one week, one idea, one tool.

I used Replit as my development platform. It handled everything from writing code to testing, hosting, and deployment. Every function, every design choice, every line of code came from AI prompts. I didn’t write a single line manually. I guided the AI through the entire process, from the front end and database setup to payment logic and email systems.

The more I worked with it, the more I realized how much the quality of your prompts matters. You don’t just tell AI what to do; you collaborate with it. I treated it like a design partner, giving it direction and context. I would say things like, “Build me a front page with a clean signup form, soft gradients, and an Apple-like feel,” or “Optimize this flow so users can create an RSVP page in under 30 seconds.” The key was learning to think like a developer without actually writing code. It turns out prompting really is the new programming.

I gave myself a week to build it. Every day was a mix of experimentation, frustration, and those little “whoa” moments when something just worked. The first few days were spent building the structure—authentication, database, event creation flow. Then I moved on to polish—interface tweaks, domains, email confirmations, and a touch of SEO. I would ask AI to explain the code it wrote so I could understand it, tweak the prompt, regenerate, and keep testing. By the end of the week, I had a live, functioning SaaS product.

SimpleRSVPs lets users create and share event pages instantly, collect guest responses, and manage everything in a clean dashboard. No clutter, no learning curve, just simple.

AI doesn’t replace creativity, it amplifies it. The biggest difference is how fast you can move from idea to execution. You don’t need to spend weeks on prototypes or months learning frameworks. You just need a clear vision and the willingness to experiment.

This project reminded me how important clarity of thought is. The AI doesn’t guess; it reflects back your direction. The better your vision, the better the output. I didn’t build SimpleRSVPs to make millions. I built it to prove what’s possible. A week ago, it was just an idea in my head. Now it’s live and people are using it.

This little experiment showed me something powerful. AI isn’t just the future of coding, it’s the future of building. If you’ve got an idea sitting in your notes or bouncing around in your head, this is your sign. You don’t need a team or a big budget. You just need curiosity and the drive to build alongside AI.

That’s how SimpleRSVPs.com was born—one week, one idea, and a lot of late nights. If you want to try building your own project, here’s the platform I used: Replit.
